A day on Lundy

I wish I could say that we slept well last night. I can say we slept, intermittently, but it is a relief to know that we’re not doing a lot of driving today. After last night’s less than satisfactory discussions with the owners regarding breakfast arrangements (essentially they have extremely inflexible times and menu, and…

Heading west to Ilfracombe

Well, what a day! Bit of a mixed bag, but you get those when you’re traveling, and it’s always going to be a rough day when you’ve hardly slept… turns out our room did not cool down… and even with a fan going in a vague attempt to move the air around, we stared at…

Bridgwater

To say we’ve chalked up a few miles the last two days could be an understatement. Yesterday was actually quiet by comparison to today’s mere 200mi. We spent yesterday’s gloriously moody ‘can’t make up my mind whether to be sunshine filled or tip if down’ weather at Witley Court and Gardens (TripAdvisor) (English Heritage) it’s…

Hidcote and Malvern

Another day of travel today, but a much shorter distance! Today we set off from the Premier Inn at Warwick, after a wonderful night’s sleep, and headed towards Stratford-upon-Avon, skirting around Shakespeare’s birthplace (we’ll save that for another trip, maybe next spring!) and on towards the Cotswolds. Our destination was located on the top-most edge…

We’re off to see the wi… Warwick?

At long last, after a summer of drawn out days, chained to desks where we would watch the sun rise and set, we’re finally on holidays! We’re heading southwest for 10 days, and today is but the first leg on a multi-travel-day trip to our destination. Our first port-of-call was Kenilworth Castle (TripAdvisor) (English Heritage),…

6 years old today!

Given all that’s happened in the last few months, today is a particularly special day. Keeva turns 6 today. Her recovery is going as well as we could hope for. She’s happy, healthy, and she’s currently on holidays with the in-laws. We’re off on holidays ourselves, blog posts will come shortly, but Keeva has remained…

6 week check up

If you heard a huge sigh, that was probably us. Keeva’s had her 6 week check-up today. Another round of xrays, but we have confirmation that the bone that was broken for the implant has healed in place, and the ligaments are healing nicely too! So, the best news we could hope for really.  …

Bounding back home

This trip was over far too quickly. We want to go back! When last we blogged I mentioned about hoping we slept well. We did. Hands down, curtains drawn, snores kept to a minimum, absolutely bombed out and slept until our alarms went off at 8am! We never get to sleep in that late! A…

Border bounding…

Some of you may have been aware of the slight change in plans we experienced a couple of months ago, a la Keeva having her accident. Well, that mishap also meant we had to bypass one of our ‘treats’ for that holiday; an overnight stay at Trigony House (TripAdvisor), a lovely Scottish guesthouse/small hotel that’s…

10 day check up

Quick update: we’re 10 days post surgery, and things are going exceptionally well. The wound healing nicely, the vet’s are happy with her movement, or lack of, and she’s scaling down the medication. All in all, about as good as it gets. She is allowed to have the ‘cone of silence’ off whenever we’re with…
