Now, for anyone who’s wondered whether or not you can actually afford to go to the tennis, yes, you can! Just don’t be suckered into buying food at the event, it’s a massive rip off. There are plenty of M&S or the like nearby, and believe me when I say, spending 10 mins browsing there, filling a basket with tasty morsels, perhaps even buying a special edition cooler bag, will more than pay for itself. We planned on feeding and watering the two of us all day, so three rounds of hydration each, plus sandwiches, snacks, and strawberries of course! All of this, and the special edition cooler bag, cost us less than buying lunch for 1. Yes, it’s that pricey!
To say we’re feeling pretty chuffed with ourselves is a massive understatement. For the whole day we were able to sit at No 2 Court, with an excellent view of the court, and managed to see some really great matches. First up was Kyle Edmund (Gbr) v Adrian Mannarino (Fra), followed by Laura Siegemund (Ger) v Madison Keys (USA) , a fantastic round with Pablo Carreno Busta (Esp) v Milos Raonic (Can) , and finishing with Simona Halep (Rou) v Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (Svk). For someone who’s never really been a massive fan of tennis, having now been to Wimbledon, I can see the appeal a little bit more!
Having worn ourselves out, catching some rays laying on the hill outside centre court, and enjoying a thoroughly English day out, we’re now fall-down-tired, and looking forward to an early night before heading into the centre of London tomorrow, as I finally get to tick another of my Bucket List off!
